Latest news 2010-2011:
- Selma was delighted to be asked to be one of the judges for the 2010 NKS Womens’ Achievement Awards and then introduce the awards evening, November 2010: a heart warming event on a cold November night. Public recognition or not, women achieve throughout their lives: big time, small time and the majority will achieve silently, quietly and sadly, unrecognised. So let’s hear it again for all those women that night in Edinburgh: everyone was a winner in her own way!
- It’s a positive challenge for Selma to look forward to: mentoring here in Scotland with the SMK Foundation (2010-2011).
- And she’s really looking forward to the formal launch of the Whose Town Project, City of Edinburgh, with her view of her childhood in Edinburgh, all those years ago (Launch date: Spring 2011).
- But possibly the best start to the year was visiting Luxor, staying with Egyptians: looking, listening & learning about their recent experiences & hopes for the future But with a lack of tourists, it was an ideal time to move about, even venturing north, to Dendera!
…And on the arts front:
- Challenging times all round in 2010, but never one to be a still life herself, Moco started 2010 with "Art at the Cutting Edge", at the JFK Salon, and ended with the successful showing and sales at the Cancer Research UK Art Exhibition Adam House, Chambers Street (Nov 2010) and a Moco painting donated through the Laurel Gallery, St Stephen Street, to the Stockbridge Charity Auction with all funds going to the Life Care Centre, Stockbridge and Children 1st (Dec 2010).
- And 2011: well, there’s talk of Moco’s first solo exhibition out of Edinburgh, over in her original stomping ground in the West of Scotland… so watch this space.
- But an explosion onto the visual arts scene had to be Stephanie Wong… She too exhibited and donated to the Stockbridge Charity Auction, and looks to have a great arts future.
